Windows 10: Upgrade now before you miss out!

In July last year, Microsoft released its latest software version, Windows 10. In an unprecedented move, the software was made available for free for a range of users, with the caveat that the upgrade must be performed within one year of its launch.

Sounds fantastic, right? Well, despite this great offer, there are still a number of users yet to take advantage. Given that we are only a few short months away from the 12 month expiry date, we thought this week on the blog, we’d remind you of the many benefits of the latest, and arguably greatest, Windows instalment.

Start menu

Firstly, users of the new software will note the improved start menu, with the left column highlighting a list of most used apps and folders. Over to the right, there is a grid featuring live updating tiles able to be arranged according preferences.

Continuum

Given the rise in use of tablets and two-in-one convertible devices, Windows 10’s continuum feature has been created to make the transition between laptop and tablet (and vice versa) seamless. The software now recognises when a device has changed modes by detecting whether or not a keyboard or mouse is present.

Cortana

Windows 10 introduces users to personal assistant Cortana, who is on hand for search queries. She also gets smarter over time, becoming even more responsive to your requests. Unlike Apple’s Siri, users comment that Cortana also has a sense of humour, but you’ll have to judge that one for yourself!

Multiple desktops

Another great feature of Windows 10 is the ability to switch between multiple desktops, separating files and documents neatly. This is particularly useful for those who rely on the one device for both work and personal use.

Microsoft Edge

An all new browser, Microsoft Edge allows users to write, highlight and type directly to web pages able to be saved and shared the same as earlier versions. In addition, Reading View eliminates distracting content, so your screen only shows what you want. You can save your reading for later, too, and if you sign in using your Microsoft account it can accessed on all your devices.

What do you think, do we have you convinced? We encourage you to finally get rid of the pop-up in the corner of your screen and upgrade today before you miss out! If you require assistance, visit the Microsoft website here and follow the step-by-step guide.
